I know. It's August in Texas. Hot is a given.
Also a given in August in Texas is band camp.
So I'm not really sure what's going on, since both of those things are incredibly normal, but I have lost all motivation.
To do anything.
My goal today, if you can call it a "goal," is to not leave the house.
That may or may not include walking to the mailbox.
Today's temperature is expected to hit 106. Same as yesterday. When I could literally FEEL the heat in the air radiating. Its like when you open the oven and the heat of the oven hits you. Yeah, like that. Only we're living inside that oven.
The bright spot in the week will likely be the "cold front" coming through. We're supposed to drop all the way down to 97.
That's nine degrees.
And those are some oh so important nine degrees.
Of course, there's also the single mom/band widow thing happening right now and I'm not really digging that this year. The kids are super active and, miraculously, they seem to be more verbal too.
They reach their maximum word capacity by 10 am.
EVERY DAY.
Combine the heat and little people asking question 9,542 about "Charlie and the Chocolate Factory" and motivation has been killed.
Thus, my possibly over-zealous goal of STAYING INDOORS today.
So far, I'm on track.
Last week and weekend were equally as underwhelming.
The best part of our week is Friday. When the ice cream truck comes through our neighborhood. It's amazing. We've never lived in a neighborhood with an ice cream truck. Those gigantic popsicles didn't last long. It was too hot and they were too big for little people to finish.
Momma was able to step in and finish them off. Nothing goes to waste in our house.
Saturday, the kids hung out at the band hall for most of the afternoon. I went to Target to buy Chris some new clothes. It was tax free weekend so, yes, CRAZY but I find very few people were fighting over men's cargo shorts. He hasn't gotten new clothes in five years and you know, clothes wear out.
It was nice to get out on my own.
The kids were completely worn out. Rhys fell asleep on the drive home. Baths got skipped and they went straight to bed. They needed the sleep.
Sunday was a lazy day for me but Chris took the kids out. Aubrey Kate and Daddy had a date Sunday morning for breakfast. Then he took Rhys for a haircut and ice cream in the afternoon. For some reason, Rhys left my baby and came back a big kid.
Sweet mercy.
The afternoon was dancing in the playroom. Rhys took pictures for us. A girl in motion. She looks like she's in a worship service. Which is kinda appropriate since they managed to find some old school Christian music.
Specifically, Twila Paris, "God is in Control."
I have no idea how that ended up in my iTunes. Much less how the three year old managed to pull it up on my phone.
I'll keep you updated on The Goal. I feel pretty confident in my ability to accomplish it.
😍😍😍
